TSODA: The Society of Dance Arts
Truman State University Founded 2001

TSODA is a non-audition dance group on campus that offers weekly 1.5 hour classes in Pershing Building and the Student Rec Center dance studios.  At the end of every semester we hold a recital (optional) for family, friends and the community. The event is free and tons of fun! The fall 2007 semester dress rehearsal will be             , and  recitals will be the evenings of                     -- mark your calendars!!!

The purpose and goals of TSODA are:
•  To open for the university doors of a more classical realm of dancing
•  To provide a center for diverse forms of dance arts to be practiced, performed, learned, and enjoyed by the University community alike
•  To challenge every dancer at any skill level

Performing members are required to pay dues of $15/semester, or $25/year. Non-performing members are required to pay $10/semester** (Only paid members with acceptable attendance will be allowed to perform in recital). There is also a rental fee for costumes that TSODA purchases for recital (usually no more than $2-$5/dance).

**Non performing members may pay $5 more if they decide to perform in recital after paying dues, but money will not be refunded to members who pay as performing members and later decide not to perform.

We hold one short meeting every other week (), for which attendance is mandatory! Two absences will be allowed, provided an explanatory e-mail is sent to the TSODA account (tsoda2@gmail.com). After two absences, members will not be allowed to perform in recital.

Performing members are required to participate in the annual fundraising event, to help defray the cost of costumes. Performing members are also required to participate in recital publicity-- the bigger the audience, the better! Non-performing members are encouraged and welcome to participate in the fundraiser and publicity, but not required.

The choreographer and/or exec board reserves the right to remove you from the recital dance if you miss class repeatedly, so we highly encourage you to attend the classes you will perform with every week.
